About Us

"I am the Good Shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know me—just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father—and I lay down My life for the sheep.”

- Jesus Christ, John 10:14-15

Matt and Kelsey met at ages 9 and 11 through youth livestock programs and that is how their story began. Kelsey's family raised sheep and Matt's family raised goats. For many years, they were great friends, then high school sweethearts, and then newly-married college students. In 2014, they set out to reimagine Kelsey's family farm together as a married couple. Their once small sheep operation has now grown to over 110 Polypay ewes and counting with a value-added meat and wool business, and they have added two daughters, Dava and Daphne, along the way.

Matt and Kelsey are intimately involved in every aspect of producing their homegrown and handmade farm products. Lambs are raised and grown on the farm and processed throughout the year to provide fresh locally raised lamb to western Kentucky. Matt is an excellent cook and people are always asking for his advice on cooking lamb, so he started making his spice blends to sell and they have become a customer favorite. Matt and Kelsey also raise 70 chickens to provide farm fresh eggs to their customers as well.

The sheep are sheared every spring and then the whole family works together to skirt, wash, pick, card, dye, spin, and make yarn jewelry, accessories, and home goods from their wool all by hand in their home studio...and their garage...and their kitchen. Matt and Kelsey sell and hand process fleece, batts, roving, and woolen goods to sell locally and online. Some fleeces are sent to mills to provide products for crafters and yarn enthusiasts, and Kelsey dyes them by hand in beautiful colors.

Every evening after work, you can find the Chadwicks out at the barn tending to the sheep or inside their farmhouse making farm products. On Saturdays, you can find them at the local farmers market providing their community with farm fresh foods and goods, and on Sundays, you can find them at church, Sunday lunch with family, or taking a holy Sabbath nap.

They love sharing their farm with their family, friends, and community in a variety of ways, but most of all, they want their growing farm to glorify the true Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and make the pastoral imagery of the Holy Bible come to life. It is only because of God’s blessing that Chadwick Sheep Company exists to serve others and they hope His hand is evident in everything they do.
